Recently, I wrote about the growing body of research indicating that the amount of time teens spend online isn’t necessarily a bad thing. That, in fact, many of them are using online communities to help others, spread awareness, and raise money for good causes worldwide.
Jim Turner followed up by taking a look around his own town and discovered it wasn’t difficult to find local teens giving back nearby.
Now Parade Magazine has put the icing on the it-isn’t-just-a-fad cake by naming their first All America High School Service Team – 15 teens who are making a difference in their own communities and in far flung communities around the world.
Matthew McConaughey is the spokesperson for this effort. His j.k. livin foundation has helped create after-school programs that help teens make healthier choices while there is still time to shape their futures.
