Slash and Beth Hart Rock Out for Women in Recovery

It’s no secret that I’m a huge supporter of the iconic axeman Slash for his harder than nails shredding, his harem of adoring fans, his reckless road history, and his hair.  However, it’s his heart and his humanitarianism that always have me coming back for more.  On May 7, We caught up with Slash and the world’s first super model, Janice Dickinson, on the red carpet of the sixth annual MusiCares MAP fund benefit concert, which celebrated women in recovery and former first lady Betty Ford and the Betty Ford Center.  As a former heroin addict, Slash is no stranger to the dangers and destruction of substance abuse.  Having been in recovery for many years now, the rock star speaks openly about the importance of seeking help.

Among the slew of talented musicians that joined Slash on stage Friday night was powerhouse performer Beth Hart.  I mean, when this woman sings and yells the sky breaks open, and reality is sent into a suspension of beautiful disbelief that any human voice could project such power and passion.  Hart’s passion for women in recovery was made abundantly clear when we spoke with her about why she cares for MusiCares.
