Stamp Out Hunger Saturday May 8th!

What do we love here at WhatGives!?  People doing good.  What do we love even more? LOTS of people doing good.  So we love, love, LOVE the food drive coming up on Saturday, May 8th.  It’s nationwide, baby, so get out the creamed corn and join us to help Stamp Out Hunger!

Every year the National Association of Letter Carriers holds the nation’s largest single day food drive.  Over the past 17 years they’ve collected over 982 million pounds of food for local food banks.  This year they’re determined to Bust a Billion – and you can make it happen.  All you have to do is leave a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox on Saturday and neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will keep your postal carrier from picking it up.  Or, if you’re gonna be out and about on Saturday, just swing by your local post office and drop off a bag or three.

You want to do even more?  You truly are a WhatGives!? kind of human being.  Stop by the Stamp Out Hunger Facebook page and press that “like” button and Campbell’s will donate one can of soup to Feeding America up to a million cans.  Spread the word in your neighborhood or apartment building by posting this flyer where people can see it.  And be sure to tweet it up!

This all might sound like a lot of food (and a lot of soup!), but please remember that nearly 50 million people in America go hungry every day.  A few cash contributions or extra bags of non-perishable food throughout the year would be greatly appreciated.  Find your nearest food bank with Feeding America’s handy dandy locator.  Do it.  Tell people.  Do it again!!!!!
