atGives!? everyone is all a-twitter about Twestival. (I know, but I’ve been holding that in for DAYS.) The more we learn about the amazing parties, the more we want to rent a supersonic jet and go to every single one of them! More people than you can imagine have been working ‘round the clock to put together events that will raise money for Concern Worldwide. Fantastic!!
For instance, there’s Boston. Organizer Jayna Dinsmore is very excited that their Twestival at Red Sky is aligned with Pokin’ Holes, an organization for under-30 entrepreneurs. Sounds like two groups with the can-do spirit are joining forces to do some amazing good.
Speaking of using business savvy to do something great, Chicago is focused on making sure the energy of Twestival lasts long after the party’s over. Mark J. Carter says their networking event brings together charities, social media types, and sponsors who are looking to connect and make a difference. It’s all happening at a place called the Catalyst Ranch. Sounds like a good omen.
Christina Lor from the Charleston Twestival is very pleased to point out that locals have three opportunities to support Concern Worldwide on Thursday. There’s donations-based yoga in the morning, a meet and greet in the afternoon, and then a party at the Real Estate Studio that night. So, go limber up and make new friends so you’ll be ready to dance on the tables that night!
Our nation’s capital is part of the action as well. Nakeva Corothers says one of the Washington, DC sponsors is particularly interested in making sure the party ends well. Radley Acura is providing cars (the new, shiny, yummy smelling ones) to shuttle people from the Shadow Room to metro stations. Party on!
We want to quickly stand up and wave at Copenhagen and Paris. HI! By the time this post goes up, they’ll be putting the finishing touches on their events and about ready to open their doors. Mark Jensen was surprised by “The absolutely insane amount of money, prizes and time people are willing to donate to a cause that is not present in Denmark, but still part of our everyday life on
Twitter.“ Copenhagen will feature a conversation between Skype investor Morten Lund and IT-investor/organizer of the Cophenhagen-based Reboot conference, Thomas Madsen-Mygdal. Meanwhile Paris organizer Juliette Descamps is pleased with how they’re sharing a sponsor with Twestival San Francisco. The company DisMoiOu / TellMeWhere is offering both cities a euro/dollar for every tweet tonight. Hurry, get your tickets now!
And speaking of a little late, how was that Melbourne Twestival? That whole time zone thing means Vineet Malhotra and his crew have already taken care of business. Give them a shout today and tell them what a great job they did – after you let them sleep a while…
At the other edge of the world are all our pals in Honolulu. They have the honor of closing down Twestival 2010 and we couldn’t think of a better spot to say Aloha to a great event. Organizer Vernon Brown knows the islands of Hawaii could face “the same natural disaster as Haiti that Concern and others around the world would come to our aid, and so it’s only fitting to join together for the cause.” Exactly. We all might need a helping hand some day. We hope everyone at Oceans 808 tonight has a blast!
Now, now, don’t panic. Of course there’s a party in New York. (Face it, there’s always a party somewhere in New York…) But we know a secret. Amanda Rose, the architect of this whole, crazy, worldwide extravaganza will be at the New York party. Celebrity sighting!!! Damien Basile is making sure the music never stops and that there are all kinds of goodies and prizes. And an origami artist. Come on, now, it wouldn’t be a real event if you didn’t have origami artist Sok Song making giant Twitter birds right in front of you.
Okay, we’re done. I know we missed soooooo many parties, but we hope you’ll take a minute to find the one near you and go. After all, Twestival is all about connecting locally to make a difference. With a DJ. Go, go, go!!!
