Yes, indeed, it’s Twestival time once again from sea to shining sea to shining sea waaaaaay over there. One day to have parties all over the world that
raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity. This year’s beneficiary: Concern Worldwide and the work they do providing education for the millions of children around the world who don’t go to school.
I know it’s tough, but someone has to go to all these parties. So, mount up, people, and let’s ride!!
The folks in Vancouver are pulling out all the stops this year. Rebecca Bollwitt says they expect about 200 people to join them at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre. They even have an official souvenir button. Oooooo, collectible!
Lorraine Anthony says Twestival goers in Belfast need to bring their cognitive skills to the bar because while a few of Belfast’s best local bands are playing, you’ll be playing games that challenge your brain.
Speaking of games, there’s nothing like a rousing tournament of Twingo to really get a party started! What is it? Andy Keetch will teach you all the secrets of Twitter Bingo at the Brighton Twestival.
If that’s a little too cerebral for you, there’s always the Moscow Twestival fencing presentation. Aleksandra Tsekhmistrenko is so proud to be organizing a great charity event for her city, but all we can think about is sword fights at the CICterna Hall Club!! THAT’S entertainment!
Of course, it’s all about the high tech at some events. Perri Blake Gorman in Hong Kong promises access to Ustream, professional-quality video recording, wifi, secure multiple screens and projectors, and a special tweetwall. Watch for reports of a major power outage near Stauntons Wine Bar.
Los Angeles?
Gosh, such a small town, without a lot of resources, how will they manage…? KIDDING. Twestival LA is taking over the Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip. Co-host Shira Lazar and Derrick Ashong promise great music, one-of-a-kind celebrity Twitter art, and a surprise guest performance by a top touring alternative band. Music and mystery. Can’t beat that!
Not every party is at night. In Inverness they’ll be lunching and discussing how social media can benefit businesses and organizations. Abi Signorelli and Rene Looper have taken the efficiency of Twitter to heart. To avoid interruptions the three-course lunch will be served all on one plate!
Music, games, food, drinks, hmmm, what’s missing? Dancing!! No problem. Duygu Saylam in Istanbul promises “surprise dance shows, which will start suddenly within the crowd.” Can’t wait!
But, you may be asking, what about Tyne?? Fear not, the Tyne Bar (which has been a pub for over 150 years, God bless ‘em) will be filled with all your friends, four live bands, raffles, and cupcakes! Tell Aoife Ross we sent you!
Keep checking back for updates on parties around the world!
