I’ve been beating the drum against hunger for the past week, shaking my fist at you kids like a crazy neighbor, hoping that somehow it would get a few more boxes of instant stuffing on a few more tables this year. Response has been pretty strong across the board. Well done.
I honestly don’t know all the specifics of how charitable giving has changed/migrated/improved/whatever since the advent of all this fancy social media stuff. I like to think that we are a generous species at heart and that all people need is the opportunity to demonstrate their true colors. The internet may simply be that access point many people needed to jump in to the philanthropy pool.
So, thank you. Thank you very much. Enjoy this day of gathering and gratitude and gravy. Give yourself the gift of enjoying the everyday blessings that fill your life. Hug your nosy auntie and let your sticky cousin hug you. Receiving can be just as affirming and inspirational as giving.
Then, buckle up. WhatGives!? is determined to stuff the stockings (or spin the dreidels or light the candles or just find a blanket) for every kid who’s facing a penny-pinching holiday. It’s just how we roll. We want you to do something good, tell people about it, and then do it again.
Happy Thanksgiving!
