It’s Halloween Week here at WhatGives!? And we’re overwhelmed with ghoulishly good suggestions of how you can make the world a little less foreboding while celebrating All Hallows Eve.
All week we’ll tell you where you can go to scare up some support for some great causes. And be sure to drop a note in the tip jar if you have a particularly haunting suggestion for events in your area.
First up, on Wednesday night at the DC Improv, this always-reliable comedy troupe in our nation’s capitol is putting on a show to benefit the Children’s Hospital. The Improv will be collecting costumes, decorations and other Halloween themed items to be distributed to children in the hospital on Halloween. In addition, a portion of the ticket price will be donated to help replenish supplies for Children’s Hospital.
Thursday night at The Alley in Newport Beach, CA, Factor 54 is throwing a bash to support Mary’s Kitchen – a non-profit organization that feeds and clothes the homeless in Orange County. Bring a canned good and get a free drink ticket! Also feel free to donate money at the door.
And for our friends in the great white north, Friday night Dreamcatcher Photo in London, Ontario, Canada, will be developing donations for the local Food Bank. They’ll take a photo of your child dressed in their Halloween costume in our Halloween set and give you a FREE 4×6 in exchange for a non-perishable item for the London Food Bank.
Finally, all week long in our own San Luis Obispo, several businesses and non-profit organizations have teamed up to collect gently used costumes, which will be dry-cleaned and distributed to foster children and less-fortunate families on the Central Coast. Read the full story and the video here..
