As I am perusing Thursday’s BlogWorld panels in the Cause/Activism Track, I am once again convinced that there is great power in being specific. The 10am session, “Kick Cancer’s Ass” seems kind of broad. I mean, hey, there are lots of kinds of cancers and some are farther down the road to a cure than others. But the people on the panel didn’t start out talking about cancer-in-general. They spoke about their own personal battle with a ruthless disease that affected them or those they love in a very specific, terrifying manner. And they took that terror and the determination that grew out of it to create something amazing. By stalogo_su2crting with the simple goal of trying to help one or a few, they each engaged a community that became an army of supporters who now serve tens of thousands of people fighting their own private wars on cancer.

It’s that principle that will also influence the discussion during the “Online Locally, Acting Globally” panel. There are very few things atwestivals potent as a simple, clear, passionate message delivered by one or a few determined people. A sense of purpose is a magnet that will draw others similarly charged to your cause. The world may be wide, but your voice can be heard. I hope you can make it to one of the sessions on Thursday. These people will encourage and inspire you to get your message out to those who are anxious to hear it
